Graphic Design
Print, brand, and campaign systems built to last
Graphic design is the connective tissue of an organization: the annual report, the conference signage, the recruiting brochure, the poster series that has to look like it came from the same place as the website. Most of what is in this gallery was built as a system rather than as a one-off.
The clients here are university departments, research centers, nonprofits, and small businesses, which usually means the person approving the work is not the person who will need to use it next year. So the deliverable is rarely just a PDF. It is a set of InDesign templates with the paragraph styles named sensibly, a palette specified in both CMYK and RGB.
I still handle production the careful way: preflight before anything goes to press, real spot color when the budget allows for it, and a proof I have looked at carefully. Thirty years in, most of what separates a good print job from an expensive mistake happens before the file leaves my computer.
